PID Tester

PID tester (potential induced degradation) is a type of deterioration that occurs in solar power generation systems. It is caused by leak current created by a large potential difference generated between a PV module frame and module circuit. PID is considered to be a factor responsible for solar power generation system output drops, and to be promoted by humidity. Accurate PID evaluation requires leak current measurement after applying a high voltage in a high-temperature/humidity environment with high precision and reproducibility.

(Potential induced degradation)PID Test

Power Supply and Data Acquisition:
DC Regulated Power Supply: 8 channels, independent output, independent monitoring, each channel can control voltage in both positive and negative directions individually
Voltage Range: -2000V to +2000V
Voltage Resolution: 1V
Voltage Accuracy: For continuous output of 1000V, 1500V, and 2000V, voltage fluctuation within 500 hours should be ≤2%
Connection Method:
Module frame grounded, high-voltage end connected after shorting connectors; no need to change the connection method when performing negative voltage test and positive pressure recovery test. Voltage Application Method: 8 power supplies are independent of each other, different polarity and voltage values can be output simultaneously
Voltage Accuracy: ±3% (based on CNAS-CL01-A021:2018)
Voltage Tolerance: 0.5% (based on IEC 62804-1-1:2020)
Current Measurement Range: 0~1mA, Resolution: 0.01μA (according to IEC 62804-1-1:2020)
Acquisition Interval: 5 minutes or smaller intervals (software setting)
Safety Protection Functions: Overcurrent alarm, overvoltage alarm, over-temperature alarm, communication interface with environmental test chamber
IEC 62804-1-1:2020 Test Procedure Standard
Configuration:
Module frame connection wires, module MC4 connectors: 8 sets
PID test dedicated high-voltage cables: 8 sets
Industrial computer, electrical control cabinet, program logic controller (PLC) control system
Chinese software functions:
Real-time leakage current recording, data acquisition interval time can be set through software.
Data export format: EXCEL
Test Conditions
There are two test conditions for PID, two temperature/humidity combinations:
Method A: 85°C / 85% Method B: 72°C / 95%
Test Duration: 240 hours
